How old are you?

I'm curious what the average age is here. I was just reading a few posts and many were from guitarists in their 40's. So, when in doubt, add a poll.

Right now it looks a little skewed toward us "older" guys...but then again it IS a school night.

I think its really interesting how many middle agers there are that are in the "beginnings" of guitar playing. Doug- has this been the norm based on your experience? Or is this some type of new trend?

I started Metal Method 26 years ago. At the time, most of my students were younger, teens and twenty somethings. The lessons were really popular in the 80's. Some people considered ordering the lessons then and never got around to it. Others put their guitar aside for a few years and began playing again recently. In a nutshell, I think the name recognition from the 80's has attracted people that were aware of the lessons back then.

I would also guess that some of the younger players were introduced to the course by their parents.

It is funny you bring that up I was around in the 80's and saw all the ads in guitar school/world mags but I never ordered the lessons. I was 12 when I got my first guitar in the latte 80's and took lessons but kinda got into girls adn stopped playing at age 25. A friend of mine called me about a year ago and said he wanted to learn to play guitar so I picked it back up and was working on showing him a few things when another buddy called and wanted to join us. I said hey guys I remeber a home course that was around when i started playing so we did and internet search and found yah each of us have now ordered the complete course. I sold all my old gear spent a fortune on a new setup and Im having a blast, my wife has calmed down after the randall LB purchase

Any way great story Im 34 now and wanna get back to playing like i did in my teens when I was rockin with Dokken

That's excellent. BTW, I can't take complete credit for my theory. My wife was in the next room when I was looking at the poll and I said, "What do you think the average age is?" She guessed the correct number and explained why. That was actually her theory. So, I made it my own!

Wow, I thought 15 was late to start playing guitar, but apperently I'm still quite early if I see that I'm the only in the category of 15 and younger!
