Back in Action

New postby Neal on Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:19 pm

Hi guys, my name is Neal and i'm from Scotland. I'm an old-skool MetalMethod student, I think I joined the board around 10 years ago when I was still in high school. Maybe some of the older members will remember me, I was called integra back then.

I haven't had a look to see who is still around. Back then it was such a tight knit community and I always looked forward to logging on to see what the chat was. Rommel, Axeslinger, Carltonec, JLB, PHos, LarryJ, Dormio, Xexys, RockinRob and who could forget the one and only ArielGibson. Hope some of you guys are still kicking around!

Anywho. I made it to around level 4 on the course but back then I was very half arsed about doing it properly. Then I went to college and partied way too hard - guitar suffered. Then I injured my wrist and had to take a 2 year break altogether. Most recently I've just got over a fairly nasty addiction to playing world of warcraft which effectivley halted my guitar playing for 4 years.

So now i'm back, all partied out, wrist healed up, warcraft uninstalled and ready to rock. This time around i'm going to finish the course and become the player I should have been by now.

Nice to be back :)

Welcome back Neal. That's quite a story. Most of the "old timers" have moved on to other pursuits. Some old timers got upset with me because I wouldn't ban a member some deemed disrespectful of the community. I like to think that there's room for disagreement here.

Welcome back Neal! :D
Yes, some of the old members weren't happy with the forum. For example, they wanted to promote our competitors. We prefer to let other companies take care of their own advertising and promotions.
You will find that this community is "tighter" and friendlier than it was before! We're glad to have you here.

I know what a World of Warcraft addiction is like. I played for like 5 years usually anywhere from 6-18 hours a day too. I had a level 80 of every class except warrior, he only made it to 74. I bet if I had started playing guitar instead and put as much time into it as I did WoW I would be giving MAB, or Joe Satriani a run for their money. I've stayed away from WoW and other MMOs for about 6 months now. :D
